- Handles High-Volume Spraying
- Built for Corrosive Environments
- Versatile Industrial Applications
Product Overview:
CYCO Hollow Cone / Full Cone Spiral Nozzles are designed for demanding industrial spraying environments where high flow capacity, clog resistance, and wide spray coverage are essential.
Featuring an open-passage spiral design with no internal components, these nozzles minimize blockage risk while delivering reliable spray performance in gas scrubbing, flue gas desulfurization, cooling, washing, and fire protection systems.
Available in both hollow cone and full cone spray patterns, with multiple materials for corrosive and high-temperature operating conditions.
Spray Performance:
Each nozzle produces either a hollow cone or a full cone spray pattern, depending on the number of spiral turns in the design.
CYCO offers both pattern types across all standard pipe sizes, allowing engineers to select the right coverage geometry for their specific absorption, cooling, or quenching column.
The spray angle range spans 60° to 170°, enabling precise control of the spray cone geometry, critical for maximizing liquid-gas contact area in packed towers and for achieving uniform cooling across large-diameter vessels.
Material Selection:
CYCO spiral nozzles in more than 10 materials to match the chemical and thermal requirements of your process.
Standard materials include 316L stainless steel and high-chromium alloys (2205, 2507) for corrosive service, PTFE and PVDF for aggressive acids, and silicon carbide for maximum abrasion resistance in slurry-heavy applications.
Custom alloys, including Hastelloy C276 and 254SMO are available on request.

FAQs
Q1: What is the difference between a hollow cone and full cone spiral nozzle?
A hollow cone spiral nozzle distributes liquid around the perimeter of the spray cone, leaving the center relatively dry, ideal for gas cooling and scrubbing where liquid-gas contact at the column wall is critical.
A full cone spiral nozzle fills the entire cone area with spray, providing uniform coverage, preferred for quenching, evaporative cooling, and applications needing complete surface wetting.
Q2: Why choose a spiral nozzle over a conventional hollow cone or full cone nozzle?
Conventional hollow or full cone nozzles use internal vanes, orifices, or inserts to create the spray pattern. These internal components are susceptible to blockage when handling liquids containing solids, scaling compounds, or fibrous material.
Spiral nozzles create the spray pattern through the helical ramp geometry of the nozzle body itself, with no internal parts to clog. This makes them the preferred choice for FGD slurry systems, wet scrubbers, and any application handling particulate-laden liquids.
Q3: What materials are available for aggressive chemical environments?
For hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydrofluoric acid (HF) service, PTFE or PVDF are recommended.
For high-temperature sulfuric acid service, Hastelloy C276 or 2507 super duplex stainless steel are standard choices.
For highly abrasive slurries such as limestone or fly ash, silicon carbide (SiC) inserts or full SiC nozzles provide maximum wear resistance.
Contact our engineering team with your specific chemical, temperature, and pressure data for a material recommendation.
Q4: Can I order custom spray angles or non-standard thread sizes?
Yes. CYCO manufactures spiral nozzles with custom spray angles outside the standard 60°–170° range, and can accommodate non-standard thread connections including flanged, tri-clamp, and proprietary fittings.
Minimum order quantities and lead times vary by specification, please submit a technical inquiry with your requirements.
